Scoring Big

FoRM Design Studio has been honored by the International Interior Design Association with a 2002 Pride Award. Barcelona Restaurant, Scottsdale, was awarded Second Place in the Hospitality and Restaurants category, of the Southwest Regional Chapter. Jose Martinez, Principal, accepted the honor during the awards ceremony held in May. The FoRM project team included Marcene Kandra, Jay Brodala, and Brent Kleinman. We're Hitting the Books

Martin Pegler, editor of the "Visual Reference Books" series, has chosen to feature Barcelona Restaurant in his upcoming book, "Café Design II." Mr. Pegler's publications focus on current Interior Architecture and Design throughout the world. The Barcelona project was selected from numerous submittals, including projects from countries such as England, Japan, and Brazil. The hardcover book, due in stores in the Fall of 2002, will include full color photos and text describing the design process and project solutions. The FoRM Team is very proud to have been part of such a well received project.

 

Reading Out Loud

Martin Pegler, editor of "Visual Reference Books" has also reserved a space for Fusilli's, Fast Fresh Italian, in his new book, "Cafes & Coffee Shops II". This hardcover Interior Architecture and Design book is planned to print in the Fall of 2003. And beyond publishing the project in his book, Mr. Pegler also requested slides of Fusilli's to use in a lecture held in Odesa, Ukraine.

 

Playing Our Cards

The FoRM Team had the pleasure of assisting the Coyotes Charities with the planning of the "Speak Easy on Grant" event. Founded by the Phoenix Coyotes, our national hockey league team, the Coyotes Charities sponsored the 1920's era themed gala to support the Special Olympics of Arizona. Guests reveled with the team in a casino atmosphere at a renovated warehouse in downtown Phoenix. Special thanks go to Brent Kleinman for his unsurpassed dedication.

 

Painting the Town

FoRM Design Studio was proud to support "Art Detour" for the third consecutive year. "Art Detour" is a celebration of the Phoenix art community, occurring every March, over the course of a three day weekend. This year FoRM joined more than 50 artist studios, galleries, and downtown venues featuring work by local artists. Our featured artists included Meg Hartwell and Roberta Hancock. The weekend was a wonderful success, with cool, sunny weather and vibrant, inspiring art works.

 

Thanks bizAZ

FoRM is happy to announce that two of our corporate clients were featured in the May / June 2001 issue of bizAZ Magazine. The article titled "Office Space", included both rain visual strategy + design (formerly Caldera Design) and Ocean Integrated Media Group as examples of progressive office design. Comments by Steve Smit of Caldera describe the positive reaction to their new space and the enhanced productivity by the staff. "We hear repeatedly from our designers 'we love the space' and 'we feel more creative here.'"

 

On Our Plate

Ken Pollack, owner of Fusilli's, hired the FoRM Team to design his new family style, sit-down restaurant and wine bar. Babbo's Italian Eatery, located in Glendale, Arizona will serve both lunch and dinner, with full wait service and take-out available. Under 2,000 Sq. Ft., this intimately scaled restaurant will have a deep, rich color palette off-set by playful details and accessories. Opening date is set for the Fall of 2002.
